CHANGES TO THE OMEA REGION ORCHESTRA & ALL-STATE ORCHESTRA AUDITION PROCESS
The five region chairs met during June of 2016 to share information about the current process of Region Orchestra and the All-State Orchestra. After a long discussion, it was decided to change the current timeline and align it with the All-State Choir, All-State Jazz Ensemble, and All-State Band. This will help to standardize the process, reduce confusion about Region/All-State timelines, and help teachers who work with multiple types of ensembles (e.g., band, orchestra, and/or choirs).

NEW TIMELINE
March 1: Application and audition material available.

May 31: Deadline for all applications to be submitted.

August 31: Notification of results to applicants and directors.

September 30: Due date for acceptance form and membership fee

Another change to the process is a universal audition. All five regions will now use the same audition materials. This will help teachers and/or students who may move from one region to another. The region chairs decided to require one technical passage, one lyrical passage, and scales.

To view the new audition requirements for 2018 Region/ All-State Orchestra strings, please go to www.omea-ohio.org where you will find audition requirements for Region Orchestra and further instructions.
